Parrish’s Valentine Recipe and Craft:
Happy Valentine’s Day (almost)!!! I have 2 quick ideas to make your Valentine’s super happy.
First up I thought I would share what I do for my family on Valentine’s Day. We each get our own Valentine’s gift bag which we hang outside of the bedroom and then on Valentine’s day everyone gets their bag that is filled with goodies from everyone else. Parents put valentines in their kid’s bags, each other’s bags and the kids can do the same, giving each other valentines too. This way each kid has their own little “mailbox” outside of their room. It’s great to let kids make their own valentines cards out of glitter and stickers and all that good stuff and they can even put them in envelopes with homemade stamps to put in everyone’s “mailbox”. The kids love it, they love making the cards and it is even more fun to deliver them. These “mailboxes” also provide the perfect place for all those dads out there to slip some jewelry or chocolates for all the hard working mamas (hint hint).
Anyways, this is just a simple idea that is fun for the kids, they have a great time and it build’s fun memories.
Next up I have an amazingly yummy, super simple, decadent, show stopping dessert!
Chocolate Covered Strawberries are the quintessential Valentine’s day dessert. Now I love the combo of chocolate and strawberries but I am not such a fan of the chocolate covered ones, too messy. Sooo I was inspired by Pinterest and all the brownie/cake mix swirled bars that are out there and I decided to mix fudge brownies and strawberry cake mix together to create this heavenly dessert that can be made in no time.
I can only imagine the other flavor possibilities you can make with this cake.
1 Box Strawberry Cake Mix (mixed according to box)
1 Box Brownie Mix (mixed according to box)
1 can Chocolate Frosting
Grease a 9×13 Pyrex and pour in the cake batter first, then the brownie batter.
Using a knife swirl around the 2 gently, just enough to get a marbled effect.
All you do is make the cake batter according to the box, make the brownie batter according to the box, pour the cake batter in a greased Pyrex dish and then pour the brownie batter on top of that, swirl, bake, frost and voila Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cake to make anyone’s Valentine’s Day!
So I hope you can use these ideas to make your Valentine’s Day a super special one!
Dana’s Valentine Recipe:
I have been holding off showing you all this amazingly simple yet yummylicious cake mix brownie recipe for the perfect time. And what better time to show you my Be Mine Brownies other than for Valentine’s?! This recipe I got from Patticake. They are so easy you’ll be wanting to try these in every flavor!
Ingredients
1 ea Box Cake Mix
1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
1/3 Cup Water
1 ea Egg
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Dump all the ingredients in a bowl and thoroughly mix using a hand mixer. Spray a 13x9x2 pan with cooking spray and put mix in pan. Spread into an even layer and pop in the oven. These took me around 30 minutes to bake but check them a little earlier. They are done when a toothpick inserted comes out clean. I suggest you let these cool completely before cutting. Also, they were just a tad on the crumbly side so I stuck them in the fridge and they set nicely. These are a great snack and the red velvet version is perfect for your hunny!
