I have a confession to make. I’ve done something recently that I am not proud of. Something I really wanted to work out but it just couldn’t. I swear guys, I really tried, like, hard for this one. But I just couldn’t bring myself to keep going. You guessed it, I stopped reading Pride and Prejudice.

I don’t know if this comes as a shock to many of you but geez! I just could NOT get into it. I HATE when this happens. I was all excited to read it too! I kept forcing myself to try and get through it but whew, NOT happening. Have you read this book? I must be worth reading if it is so well known but it’s too slow for me. Or, did you give up on this one too? Was there ever one book you wanted to get your hands on so bad but then were completely disappointed by? Let me know! So, inevitably I picked up another book right away and am LOVING it!

My mom let me borrow The Help by Kathryn Stockett. I know I am behind but it’s a real page turner and this will definitely be my next book review!

P.S. If you really believe I would be missing out on this one please let me know! I’ll try and give it another shot if you persuade me.

Dear Dana, Yes! I have tried to get into some books that are supposed to be so good, like Pride and Prejudice and just couldn’t. They just put me to sleep! (psst. sometimes the abridged version is much easier to get through) .
I’m glad that you are enjoying, The Help.
Blessings my dearest. Catherine xo
Great idea! I should look into that. I really wanted to read it! Thanks for the tip

This Silly Girl’s Life recently posted..Boring Books.
Yes, I know what you mean…however, I have never started the Pride and the Prejudice, it never sounded good just from the title! But I am soo happy that you are enjoying The Help…I was so sad when I finished it, not because of the ending, but I knew that I would miss all of the wonderful characters in the book! Now I’m looking for something to replace it, any suggestions?
Anyone?
That’s how I always feel finishing a good book, sad. It seems like the story just never should be over! I’m not sure what I’m going to start next.. I have a big stack to choose from, I guess we will find out soon!
I absolutely LOVE Pride and Prejudice. I first read it in high school English. I did find it to be slow and uninteresting, but then we watched the A&E mini-series with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy and I’ve loved it ever since (Colin Firth too). You might try giving Pride and Prejudice and Zombies a try? It may be a little more exciting?
LOL, I bet the zombie addition would be pretty good…thanks for the input!
Hello, I was searching for Pride & Prejudice book covers and thoughts yours really beautiful! And then found the colours on your website to be so warm and your design so elegant that I started reading your posts.
When I read this one I HAD to say – yes, yes, yes! it * is* worth it.
As someone suggested you might try the abridged version first and then give the original a go? I agree with your assessment that the initial few chapters are a little slow… but if you stick around you might end up liking it.
Wow, thanks so much that is so kind! I think I will try and read it again, that’s how I felt about Gone With the Wind as well, the first chapter or two was blah to me but then it was amazing! Thanks for the recommendation!
i was also disappointed with pride and prejudice. im a hopeless romantic and the book didnt satisfy my hopeless romantic feels. it was “snarky” and mind-numbing more than it was romantic (lizzy falls in love upon seeing his hot house…seriously). i think most people just love the movie or the miniseries.
I agree totally with this! The miniseries was much better then the book to me but was still pretty boring, I hate to say!!
