Kamikoto Knives Review

This is a sponsored review post on behalf of Kamikoto. All opinions are 100% my own.

My experience using Kamikoto Knives and other products plus a fun giveaway at the end!

Hi, everyone! When I first started this blog of mine, I used to give a lot of tips and tricks from working in the restaurant industry. While I still do that in all of my recipes such as cooking techniques, I haven’t touched on utensils and products in a while.

To me, the MOST important tool to have in the kitchen is a good set of knives. Or, at least one good quality knife that is your go-to.

While this is the case, I’m kind of embarrassed to say that I have been working with a knife kit I’ve had since college. I went to Johnson & Wales and got my Associates degree in Culinary Arts. Along with the tuition, you get a set of knives and I have been rocking that set ever since! Some ahem… 10ish (…12ish?) years ago.

Needless to say, I have been in need of a really good knife set. And, lucky for me Kamikoto contacted me asking for a review. I immediately jumped at the chance because you just can’t get better knives than Japanese steel, in my opinion.

They sent me the Kanpeki Knife set which includes a vegetable knife, a slicing knife, and a utility knife. I have been using them for a couple weeks and I am extremely happy with them. My favorite one is the larger slicing knife. I am used to working with this style knife because that is all we had at an Asian restaurant I worked at for many years. It is very versatile even though it is on the larger side.

I also received this floating knife block that is for display. It is made of beech wood and has a magnet inside that you can easily store the knives on. Plus, it looks pretty cool if you ask me!

They also sent the sharpening whetstone. I used this allllll the time at work as well. I have not needed to use it yet, so I can’t say if I recommend this product. It looks and feels very high quality and they have directions with it on how to use which comes in handy. The knives themselves are so sharp I haven’t had to sharpen them yet!

The three piece knife kit also comes in this beautiful wooden box. I think this would be a wonderful gift to give! Mother’s Day, anyone??

Giveaway time!!

I really love that floating knife holder. Now that I don’t have to worry about kids etc., I’ve wanted a pretty and modern way to show off some utensils! That does look like a good stone, bummed to see they are sold out.

I am a Chef and had the privilege of using my co-workers Kamikoto Santoku knife. I just couldn’t put it down. My knife skills are VERY good however, this knife makes the detail cuts even BETTER! I can be so creative and efficient. IT’s like my own hands are a “food processor” without having to use electricity. As much as I like my co-worker, I can’t wait until he goes on vacation (with his permission) I can use his knives. I only work PT so I still can’t afford these incredible beauties!

I am captivated by the wooden knife holder…is this the one with themagnet inside?
I really need one for my knives. Though, I have to say, I’d love to have the three knife set with the wooden holder.

Yes, the one pictures has a magnet inside. A first I thought there was no way the knives would stick but they do, very impressive counter display!

I am obsessed with these knives. To be honest I love the Kanpeki knife set, but my favorite item from Kamikoto would have to be the 7 in Santoku or the Senshi dual knife set.

The floating knife block. The only problem is that I keep thinking of it as a sword(s) of Damocles and wondering when the magnet might fail…
