Today’s recipe for homemade Apple Cinnamon Twists is made from pie crust. I have also seen cinnamon twists made with puff pastry as well!
Why this recipe works:
- With minimal pantry staple ingredients you can whip this recipe together quick and easy.
- You can easily double this batch to make more to serve more people.
- The glaze is super easy to make and absolutely completes this treat.
Apple Cinnamon Twists dripping with sweet vanilla bean glaze, your new go-to breakfast! Or snack, or dessert! They are so good, you will find any excuse to whip up a batch.
Not to mention the simplicity of this recipe, wow! Your family and friends will think you were slaving in the kitchen for hours whipping these up but they are so EASY!
But, it only takes about 20 minutes in total! With 15 minutes of that time waiting for these cuties to bake right up.
That is one of my favorite things about recipes like these is the simplicity and ease, I love easy recipes so much!
How to store:
These can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days, I would recommend a Tupperware container separated by some parchment paper because of the glaze.
You can also store these in the refrigerator for up to a week, again in an airtight container.
These can also be frozen before or after baking. To freeze before baking lay out on a baking sheet and place in freezer until hardened.
Remove from freezer and place in an airtight freezer bag, this should last around 2 months.
How to make Apple Cinnamon Twists:
- I used a pre-bought pie crust and apple filling for these, literally could not be easier!
- Lay out one pie crust, coat with cinnamon sugar mixture. Spread smooth apple pie filling on top.
- Place another pie crust on top. Sprinkle more cinnamon sugar.
- Next, we have to cut them into twists, using a pizza cutter makes this super easy.
- Cut off the sides until it makes a square. Cut into 1/2 inch strips.
- Take one piece at a time, and gently twist them and lay them on a lined baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
- Brush each twist with egg wash. Sprinkle remaining cinnamon sugar over each piece.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool completely on a wired rack.
- Pipe glaze over twist, pour the glaze on, or use the glaze as a dipping sauce, enjoy!
See how easy this recipe is, there really isn’t that much to it and and the end you will have a delicious treat that you won’t want to put down.

Tips and Tricks:

- Double this recipe easily, bake some and freeze some for later use.
- You can swap out vanilla bean paste for vanilla extract 1:1.
- Make sure your twists slightly cooled before glazing so it doesn’t melt all the way off.
