Mini Goat Cheese Cheese Balls, herbs, goat cheese, and pretzels make for a fun and easy appetizer! Perfect for any party, game day, or just because!
Cheese Balls, super common and absolutely delicious. Well, we like to have single-serving appetizers at points so we made these Mini Goat Cheese Balls.
They are super easy and tasty! I also love that they are mini, I love mini anything! Appetizers, desserts, you name it! Mini food is super fun.
These are full of flavor the addition of a pretzel “toothpick” just makes this appetizer more fun for a party spread!
It’s always a plus being able to use something in place of utensils, less mess, and no need for your guests to throw anything away.
My absolute favorite thing about these Mini Goat Cheese Cheese Balls is the Garlic and Butter Croutons that they are rolled in, it really amps up that flavor making them irresistible.
Some of my other favorite appetizers that we have on our site include: Baked Cream Cheese Wonton Cups, Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms and Crostini.
Once you make these Mini Goat Cheese Cheese Balls, you will absolutely be hooked and you will want to make them for every gathering.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- They are quick and easy to put together.
- Double this recipe to have more on hand for guests.
- You can add whatever herbs you like to make these your own.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE BELOW):
Goat cheese
Cream cheese
Scallion
Parsley
Pepper
Garlic and butter croutons
Pretzel sticks
HOW TO MAKE MINI GOAT CHEESE CHEESE BALLS:
- Line a sheet tray with parchment paper.
- Mix the goat cheese, cream cheese, scallions, 1 tablespoon of parsley, and pepper in a medium-sized bowl. Mix with an electric hand mixer until smooth.
- Taking a tablespoon-sized scoop, roll the mixture into balls and place them on the sheet tray.
- Place the croutons in a food processor, pulse into crumbs. Place the crumbs in a bowl, add the remaining parsley and stir to combine. Roll the cheese balls in this mixture. Place them back on the sheet tray. Insert the pretzel toothpicks, place them on a serving tray, and enjoy.
IS THERE OTHER CHEESE I CAN USE?
Yes, we love goat cheese because it is flavorful and soft so it works perfectly for this recipe. Other cheeses you use are cream cheese.
These two are great for the base of your cheese balls. But adding other cheeses to the cheese balls is amazing, you can use blue cheese, cheddar cheese, manchego, and many more.
WHAT ELSE CAN I ROLL THIS IN?
You can roll in a lot of different things, chopped nuts, crushed crackers, herbs, bacon, etc. Whatever you think that would pair well with the flavor of your cheese ball will work!
WHAT DO YOU SERVE WITH CHEESE BALLS?
These are mini so you can just pop them into your mouth, but if you want to serve them with other things you can serve them with crackers, pretzels, bread, etc.
HOW TO STORE:
These can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where they will last for up to 5 days and possibly longer depending on the expiration date on your cheese.
These can also be frozen, we like to freeze before we roll in the croutons as they store better. Make your balls up until the point of rolling and store them in a freezer container. They will last for up to 3 months.
Defrost in the refrigerator overnight, roll and serve.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- You can switch up your herbs in this to your liking!
- Add other cheeses to your mixture for a different flavor.
- There are various things you can roll these in, see my tips above.
- These can be frozen, see above on how to do that.
- We love serving these with pretzels in the tops, this is optional.
- You can make one large cheese ball out of this if you’d like.
