**Fun giveaway at the end of the post!! 😉 😉 **

It’s that time of year when I really start thinking of ways to spruce up our home! One major decor item I had to think up was our Thanksgiving tablescape this year. I’ve been seeing these mason jar lid pumpkins floating around social media for some time and I knew it would be just the craft to make for some cute place settings!

I used The Country Cook for a guideline on how to make these pumpkins.

Since we moved into our new home… (can you belive it has been a year already?! wow!), I can’t lie, we have had some issues with pests. We moved out into a new construction subdivision and along with that comes a lot of critters being dug up!

So, to keep the pests away, I thought instead of using traditional items to decorate this year, I would replicate them craftily 😉 . Normally, I put out a lot of fresh pumpkins, acorns and pine cones. BUT, these are the perfect place for those pesky critters to come on in and make them self at home!

Pumpkins attract fruit flies and they are the major decor pieces I normally use. So, in place of mini pumpkins in my place settings, these mason jar lid pumpkins are the perfect alternative!!

And they are super easy to make too, and cute!! All you need for each pumpkin is 20 mason jar lids, cinnamon sticks, yarn in the same color as the lids and floral wire. If you want to make them into place settings like me, in addition you will need card stock paper, mini clothes pins and stamps with ink.

Let’s get started! Count out 20 lids, and sting them through the yarn facing the same direction.

Cut the string and pull it as tight as you can together and make a double knot. It is very important the yarn is very tight or the pumpkin will be too loose. Cut off excess string and maneuver the lids to form a circle. Continue with as many as you need for place settings.

Now, for the stem and vine, take two cinnamon sticks and wrap the floral wire around the base of them tightly. To add a cute vine, take a smaller piece of wire and wrap it around the sticks a few times and using a pen or marker, spiral the wire into place.

Now, if you want these pumpkins to be permanent, you can hot glue the cinnamon sticks into the base of the pumpkin. If not, just place the sticks into the center of the pumpkin.

To add on names for place settings, I just stamped my guests names on to the card stock, cut them out and attached them to the vines with the clothespins. So easy!

Love this idea! So clever and fun. And it looks very elegant with your place setting! I bet you could also do it as a hip SteamPunk style too. Cute!
