Deep Fried Twinkies Bites, the fun fair food in bite size! A poppable treat, perfect for fall or anytime with these easy deep fried twinkies!
Deep Fried Twinkies
When I think of fall I think of the colder weather, the falling of leaves and the state fair! One of my favorite aspects of the fair is, of course, the food.
I thought I would make one of my favorite treats a little easier to eat and made deep fried twinkies bite-sized! They are sooo cute and easier to handle than a huge fried twinkie on a stick!
What are deep fried twinkies
I cut up twinkies, dip them in funnel cake batter and fry them to a perfect golden brown! You can either dip them in your favorite sauces like chocolate, caramel or cream cheese frosting or just a light coating of powdered sugar is perfection!
Deep fried twinkie directions
- Place three inches of vegetable oil a heavy bottom skillet with deep sides. Heat over medium heat until hot, around 375 degrees.
- Beat the eggs and sugar together until smooth. Carefully beat in the milk. Add the dry ingredients except for the powdered sugar and beat this until smooth with no lumps.
- Unwrap twinkies and place on a plate. Put this in the freezer for about 10 minutes or while you are mixing the batter. (This will help to make sure the filling doesn’t leak out when frying) Take Twinkies out and cut them into four equal pieces.
- You will want to fry these in batches so only put as many twinkie pieces in the batter that you are going to use. Place the other cut up twinkies back into the freezer until they are ready to fry.
- Cover the twinkie bites in the batter and CAREFULLY place the twinkies in the hot oil, make sure to flip them every once in a while so they get a golden outside evenly. It takes maybe 3-5 minutes and they are done.
- Transfer the twinkies on to a paper towel lined plate so the excess oil will be absorbed.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce (try my cinnamon buttermilk caramel sauce!) or a light coating of powdered sugar, enjoy!
I’m telling you, these little beauties are addicting!!
The twinkie filling just gets all runny and gooey and YUM!
So now you can have one of your favorite fair foods at home! I think making them bite-sized is just easier to eat and well, cuter!
For more fall treats I highly recommend my caramel apple funnel cakes, caramel apple cheesecake filled butter cake, and caramel pumpkin sheet cake!
