How to Make Money and Get Free Products by Blogging

Today’s lesson for Blogging 101: Two Girls Blog Basics is the last in our little series, aww so sad! Parrish and I really hope you have enjoyed our articles! Read on for How to Make Money and Get Free Products by Blogging!

When I started blogging I really had NO idea what I was doing. (I still don’t have much but I’m getting better, hehe) I knew you COULD make money off a blog but I really wasn’t expecting much if any. I started just as a hobby and soon fell in love with my little corner of the internets. I saw all these other big bloggers stating their income and how to make money. So I put my mind to it to see if I could be like them! Now I am definitely no expert at how to make money blogging but I want to share some tips on how to get started and what to look out for.

How to Make Money and Get Free Products by Blogging from http://ThisSillyGirlsLife.com #Blogging101 #MakeMoneyBlogging #FreeProducts

I’m only going to be mentioning websites where I have actually made money from. I am signed up to many other networks but haven’t generated any cashola from them yet!

Advertisements

Now I know this is an obvious one. But I want you to NOT be like me in this instance. I put up adsense on my blog about a month or so into blogging. I didn’t make hardly anything from it so I took them all down.

Don’t do this. Leave them up! The money you make from adsense goes up the more views you have. When I first had them up I didn’t have many views, 50 a day if I was lucky. Now I have close to 1000 views a day and there is a huge difference in the amount of money I’m making BUT if I would have been patient and kept them up this whole time I would be looking much better then I am now. So don’t freak out because you’re not making what you expected right off the bat, this takes time!

Referral Links

This one, for me anyways, is the lowest amount of money maker I have. BUT, it is something and I know just like the adsense it will grow overtime. Referral links are urls that are special just for you from a company that pays you to have ads or do sponsored posts. I have these constant “badges” on my sidebar that when you click on them, it will take you to a website where you can sign up to make money doing these different things. Every time someone clicks on one of mine and signs up I get a percentage of whatever they make (don’t worry this doesn’t mean I’m taking money from you, your percentage is always the same in the agreement you sign up for but it is an incentive for ME to keep getting more people to sign up). The more people you get to sign up the higher your percentage rises, these two companies below I rarely do actual work for but I get paid through the people that have signed up through my special url.

SponsoredTweets referral badge

For the above referral, they pay you to tweet. That simple. Companies contact them, they contact you and ask you if you want to tweet a couple of times for this company, once your tweets are confirmed you get paid. AND you set your price. Very simple.

Set Your Price. Choose your Advertisers. Sign up for SocialSpark!

This next company above is very similar to sponsored tweets where you get to set your price, they will contact you and you can choose what advertisers you work with. BUT instead of tweeting they offer sponsored posts in the form of campaigns. A company contacts them with instructions on what you are to do, normally writing up a review post about a company or product. You can potentially get free products and compensated.

Getting Free Products for Review

Now this one is a little tricky. This one you really have to think about when you get offers. When I first started I agreed to review anything just because it was free, yay! Bad idea. Not only do you get, let’s face it, some so so products but then you have to write about them (even if you don’t like it, tell the truth!) knowing most people won’t care or read the post at all. So now I just agree to things I am really truly interested in.

A couple websites I use to get free stuff is Influenster and BzzAgent. Just sign up, take some surveys and they will contact you when you’re a good fit!

Posting an Article

This is my most lucrative option. SponsoredReviews.com is a site that you can either browse through available opportunities or they e-mail you directly. I have only used them to post articles that are written by a company that has a link to a company website. I ONLY post articles I think are informational. Another website that will pay you to post articles is PostJoint.

This next way to make money from posting an article is very tricky. Have you ever gotten an email from someone wanting to do a guest post but they don’t have a blog themselves? Or they say that they are a “freelance writer”? Beware of these people! Whenever I get an e-mail like this the first thing I ask is if there will be any outbound links in their post. 10 times out of 10 they will say yes, if this is the case you need to be compensated. How much you ask is entirely up to you, start out a little higher than what you will take because they are ready to negotiate!

Direct Advertisements

Like the ones on my sidebar under “Lovely Sponsors”. I get paid to put up a company or blogs image and link to their site. I will also give them a “shout out” on all of my social media pages. This will vary as well, to check out my PR and Advertising page for all my details!

Sorry this is such a long post but I think I covered all my bases on how to make money blogging and get free products!

I am loving reading these entries about how to blog. I have been blogging for over two years and am just now starting to realize all of my boo boos and what I can do better. I am going to check out these ad opportunities…I just become concerned with becoming a sell out but you make it seem like there is a way to get around all of that. I still want to blog about what I care about and not just whatever will make me some money. Great post!
